Yes, I can remember thinking back in the day that my 21st birthday would never come and dreaming of ways to get past bouncers at college bars from Portland to Ashland. Alas, most every one of them is pretty diligent about carding clientèle. Even though I'm over 30, I still get carded about half the time I enter any establishment. I take it as neither a compliment nor an insult. It's just a guy standing at a door trying to turn an honest buck. I respect that. And you should too. Are there some places more lax than others? Absolutely. But I'm not here to give those answers. I will say this, as with most things in life, if you look like you belong, you'll probably get past whatever security is in place.

I will certainly make exceptions for little female redheads in my life, but I don't think a bouncer (with the threat of hefty fines hanging over him like a sword of Damocles) is willing to cut you the same slack.

So welcome to Portland, Ryann! Keep in touch. Let me know where you're performing and I'll make sure to stop in and say hi.

I am a dancer and I really enjoy your blogs and strippers. New to the Portland area, I was very disappointed when I found out that every club (but Jiggles..yuck) was 21+. I have a year to go before I am 21. In your experiences, how strict are bouncers on letting little female redheads in with lots of bills but no ID?
